(AsiaGameHub) – Sportsbet has announced the appointment of Doug Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer, with his tenure beginning on June 1, 2026.
This executive transition occurs as the current CEO, Barni Evans, moves into a broader regional position within Flutter Entertainment, the parent company.
Broader Regional Responsibilities
Barni Evans, who previously served as Sportsbet’s CEO and guided the company through a period of consolidation, is set to assume the role of CEO for Flutter APAC & Emerging Markets.
This new appointment expands his duties to include supervising Flutter’s betting activities throughout the Asia-Pacific area and various other developing markets.
Flutter Entertainment emphasized that Evans’s transition aims to maintain his “close connection to the business” even as he manages a more extensive geographical remit.
“Being a part of Sportsbet’s journey has been an immense privilege. I am exceptionally proud of the enterprise we’ve established and the team that supports it,” Evans stated.
“I anticipate staying deeply involved with the business as I undertake this expanded role across the APAC and Emerging Markets,” he added.
Doug Brown: An Internal Appointment
Doug Brown, a long-standing senior executive at Sportsbet since 2015, has occupied key positions such as chief operating officer, chief product officer, and chief growth officer.
Flutter Entertainment described Brown as “a primary architect of Sportsbet’s expansion,” acknowledging his role in the company’s emphasis on product innovation and customer-driven growth.
In a released statement, Brown commented: “Sportsbet is a vibrant company with talented individuals and significant forward momentum, and I am thankful for the chance to guide the business through its upcoming phase.”
“My objective is straightforward – continuously enhance the customer experience, invigorate excitement, and capitalize on the prospects before us,” he affirmed.
Evans extended his congratulations to Brown, stating: “Doug is the ideal individual to steer the next chapter as CEO. He possesses an intimate understanding of the business and has been instrumental in our current achievements.”
Wider Organizational Shifts
This executive change is not the only one Flutter has disclosed recently. FanDuel, Flutter’s American brand, announced the departure of Amy Howe, who served as its CEO for the past five years. Christian Genetski, FanDuel’s former president who joined in 2015, is slated to assume her role.
Flutter, the parent company, reported revenues of $4.3 billion for the first quarter of 2026, surpassing analysts’ projections of $4.2 billion.
